A product with the code “BEE-008” appeared less than twenty-four hours before the much-anticipated Nintendo Direct, clearly signaling a new Nintendo gaming controller.
All indications point to the Switch 2’s Pro Controller, even if nothing has been formally confirmed yet. One important element has enthusiasts excited: a headphone connector.
Nintendo Pro Switch 2 Headphone Jack Finally Arrives?
According to a new FCC listing that GoNintendo published, Nintendo has filed a wireless controller with built-in battery, Bluetooth, and NFC—all of which are typical capabilities for Nintendo’s Pro Controllers. However, this leak is especially interesting since it might mean the arrival of a headphone jack.
Despite Sony and Microsoft making headphone jacks a common feature with their DualSense and Xbox Series controllers, Nintendo has obstinately refused to include one in their controllers for years. However, it appears that the Switch 2 Pro Controller is altering that.
Although the Switch 2 Pro Controller isn’t specifically mentioned in the product code “BEE-008,” prior Nintendo FCC filings have reliably disclosed new hardware ahead of time. Additionally, the feature set is ideal for a Pro Controller as opposed to Joy-Cons or an external attachment.
We anticipate formal confirmation tomorrow, so this appears to be a near-lock.
