As our business expands, we are seeking an estimator to join our team and contribute to the creation of precise project estimates that are essential to our success.
Duties
Cost Analysis & Estimation
- Create thorough estimates that account for labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses for both residential and commercial building projects.
- Examine engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and other records to ascertain the viability and extent of the project.
- To improve pricing strategies, examine market trends and historical cost data.
- Look for ways to save costs without sacrificing quality.
Cooperation and Organizing Vendors
- To secure competitive price, collaborate closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers.
- Check subcontractor bids for correctness and adherence to project specifications.
- Keep a database of project expenses, vendor details, and prices up to date.
Use of Software and Documentation
- To create and maintain estimates, use estimating tools like Bluebeam, Buildertrend, and ProEst.
- Keep track of all estimates and modification orders’ supporting paperwork.
- Participate in the creation of project budgeting and cost forecasting tools.
- Provide stakeholders with cost breakdowns and explanations.
- Participate in contract discussions to guarantee profitability and reasonable pricing.
- Provide price information to the business development and sales teams.
Qualifications
Experience and Proficiency
- One to three years of expertise in residential or commercial building estimates.
- strong familiarity with labor expenses, building supplies, and market prices.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Buildertrend, or comparable estimating software (a plus is RS Means, PlanSwift, or ProEst).
- Knowledge with CRM and project management software, such as Asana and HubSpot, is desired but not necessary.
- Outstanding mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- strong negotiating and communication skills.
Certifications & Education
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a similar discipline is desired but not necessary.
- Project management or estimating industry qualifications are advantageous.
Extra Requirements
- A current driver’s license and the capacity to travel to project locations as required.
