New 2-Hour School Timings Introduced in Punjab for Winter 2025, Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) has issued new school timings along with the official winter vacation schedule for 2025. The changes, aimed at reducing student fatigue and maintaining academic consistency, will be applied to all students from Grade 1 to Grade 8.

Revised School Hours Effective From December 8, 2025

According to the latest notification, schools across Punjab will adopt shortened hours beginning December 8, 2025. The revised schedule is as follows:

  • Morning Shift: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
  • Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Friday Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

These modified timings are temporary and are designed to help students manage their workload comfortably during the mid-term assessment period.

Mid-Term SBA Exams 2025–26

PEIMA also announced the schedule for the mid-term School-Based Assessments (SBA) for classes 1 through 8.

  • First SBA Exam: 12 December 2025

Students and parents have been encouraged to check the full date sheet and ensure timely preparation for each subject.

Punjab Winter Vacations 2025

The provincial government has officially confirmed the upcoming winter holidays for all public and private schools:

  • Vacations Start: December 23, 2025
  • Vacations End: January 10, 2026
  • Classes Resume: January 13, 2026

These dates will be implemented uniformly across the province to maintain a synchronized academic calendar.

Extended Winter Break in Balochistan

In contrast to Punjab, several colder districts of Balochistan will observe a significantly longer winter break:

  • Break Begins: December 16, 2025
  • Duration: Nearly 2.5 months
  • Reopening Date: March 1, 2026

The extended closure aims to protect students from severe winter conditions. In Chaman, exams for classes 1 to 7 began on November 16 and will continue until November 24, while Grade 8 exams under the Balochistan Board are scheduled to start on November 24.

Mandatory Compliance Required

The Punjab School Education Department has instructed all public and private institutions to strictly adhere to the revised timings and vacation schedule. Officials say the unified implementation will help parents plan accordingly and ensure equal learning opportunities across the province.
